The sale of ready-to-eat Salty Licorice Crickets as food has been discontinued, for the time being, as flavoring Regulation 1334/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council does not allow using salmiak/salty licorice as an aroma with food insects. In 2008 the EU regulators did not have any idea about edible insects and therefore none came to the idea to include edible insects in the list of food ingredients that are allowed to be used together with salmiak.
However, if you are interested in licorice and roasted crickets, here are two options:
- You can buy from us 20 grams of Decorative Salty Licorice Crickets that are sold as non-food with 24% VAT.
- You can buy our Super Strong Salty Licorice Powder (5g) and roasted crickets as two separate food products.
